Cold currents may moderate slightly

The Meteorological Office has given such a forecast on Thursday (January 12).

Meteorologist Md. Monowar Hossain said that the extension of the subcontinental high pressure zone is located in Bihar and adjoining areas. Seasonal normal low pressure is located over South Bay of Bengal.

The weather is likely to remain dry with partly cloudy skies till Friday (January 13) evening. From midnight to morning, moderate to dense fog may occur over river basins and adjoining areas of the country and light to moderate fog over other parts of the country. It may continue till noon somewhere.

Mild to moderate cold current is moving over Tangail, Faridpur, Madaripur, Manikganj, Gopalganj, Jessore, Kushtia, Chuadanga, Barisal and Bhola districts along with Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions and it may subside from some areas.

Day and night temperatures may increase slightly across the country. Wind speed will be 5 to 10 km per hour from north or northeast direction in Dhaka. There may be light rain or drizzle in the next two days. And the night temperature may decrease in extended five days.

Chuadanga recorded the lowest temperature in the country on Thursday at 6.3 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature recorded at Teknaf was 30.2 degrees Celsius. The maximum and minimum temperature recorded in Dhaka was 12 degrees Celsius and 23.4 degrees Celsius.
